Does AstroLab require a computer?

Not for performance — the AstroLab runs its sounds internally and ships preloaded with a large library of V Collection presets. You do use Arturia's Analog Lab software on a computer to manage and load additional sounds, but once loaded onto the instrument, it operates standalone.

Is the Juno-X analog?

No — the Juno-X is a high-fidelity digital emulation using Roland's ZEN-Core engine. It is not electrically analog. However, Roland's modeling of the Juno-60 and Juno-106 circuits, particularly the BBD chorus, is widely regarded as one of the most convincing vintage emulations on the market and holds up well in A/B testing against original hardware.

Can AstroLab play samples?

Yes — the AstroLab supports Arturia's sample-based engines, including emulations of instruments like the Mellotron and various acoustic instruments from the V Collection. This extends its palette well beyond pure synthesis and makes it more of a complete stage keyboard than the Juno-X, which stays firmly in the synth domain.
